Google has officially announced its brand new Nexus 7 tablet. The tablet is light and was designed to be more portable, according to Hugo Barra. It features the same 7″ display, but comes with a higher resolution (1920 x 1200), back-facing camera, dual stereo speakers and Fraunhofer audio technology. It ships with a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, dual-band WiFi and there is a 4G LTE variant for AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile on a single device. Not multiple variants for different carriers. It also packs in wireless charging. Now the next generation Nexus 7 tablet, which still hasn’t been formally announced, is already up for pre-order. As you can see from the image above, Best Buy has put up the tablet for pre-order even before Google officially announces it. As we had heard before, there are two models in 16GB and 32GB capacities respectively. Oddly missing is a 3G model, for now at least, but since we definitely saw a SIM slot on one of the press images we can only assume it would be arriving later. The prices are a bit higher than before, at $229.99 for the 16GB model and $269.99 for the 32GB model. Of course, these are Best Buy prices, not to mention for the pre-order. One of the first tablets running the Tizen operating system is set to launch in Japan later this year.
