Apple Loses $368 Million Over FaceTime Patent Infringe

Apple loses $368 million over Facetime patent infringe case
After the Apple Vs Samsung final court ruling, this the new patent infringement case with Apple over design patents, and this time Apple is the one who allegedly copy and used four of the latter’s patents related to FaceTime. Apple try to argue that it did not infringe upon any patents, that FaceTime was a free service with no revenue and that VirnetX ( Patent holder company) does not have any products that use those patents but apparently it was not enough to convince the judge and now Apple has been ordered to pay $368 million.

Apple has already filed an motion over the ruling by asking whether VirnetX has sufficient evidence to support its case and to reexamine each of the four patents in question with the US Patent Office, so if Apple suceeded in the movement maybe they can escape from case without paying the $368 million.

VirnetX pulled a similar move on Microsoft earlier this year, winning $200 million in settlement from Microsoft for using its VPN-related patents in its Windows operating system and other products.
