How to Install Android 4.4 in original Kindle Fire 2011 ( unofficial )

How to Install Android 4.4 in original Kindle Fire 2011 : Do you ever wondered the new Android 4.4 will work like charm in the Kindle fire 2011 edition ? or even it will be available ?

The first Kindle Fire belongs in the low-end device spectrum. It runs on a 1 GHz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It’s 7-inch IPS screen only supports a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The specs sound almost perfect for Android 4.4, which boasts of the ability to run even on low-end devices in the market today. And it seems that it indeed runs quite well, with just a few caveats.

The XDA Developer FuZZ__ has released an unofficial build of CyanogenMod 11 for the original Amazon Kindle Fire. He calls it Kitkang, and it’s basically a customized version of CM11 Alpha that’s been compiled to run on Amazon’s tablet.

Over all there are some graphical glitches and the stock web browser doesn’t work very well. But you can install another web browser such as Firefox or Dolphin. Hardware-accelerated video playback seems to work,  Netflix video stream works without any problems. Android 4.4 for the Kindle Fire is still very much a work in progress.  But considering the fact that Amazon doesn’t officially support the software, and Google hasn’t really done anything to ensure compatibility with the hardware, it’s impressive that there’s an even semi-functional build of KitKat for the first-generation Amazon Kindle Fire so soon.

The easiest way to install Kitkang on the original Kindle Fire is to use the Kindle Fire Utility to install a custom recovery such as TWRP 2.6.3.1 ( use latest version or you wont able to flash Android 4.4 ROM) which you can use to load the operating system. It’s also probably a good idea to make a backup of your device before installing any ROMs.

Then go download Google play APK file and install manually to use the Google play and Google services.
