Second generation Nexus 7 to sport Android 4.3, wireless charging

The second-generation Google Nexus 7 leaks continue. We’ve already gotten a look at the what appears to be a prototype, as well as some details about the hardware. Now Engadget has a photo of a retail product tab which tells us a bit more about what to expect from Google’s next 7 inch tablet.

According to the leaked photo, the tablet will have a 7 inch screen. a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, a 1.2MP front-facing camera and 5MP rear camera. It’ll run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, support wireless charging, and let you send 1080p video content to a TV via a “slim port.”

This particular model also has 32GB of storage, although a 16GB model is expected as well.

As a quick refresher, the current Nexus 7 tablet has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor (NVIDIA Tegra 3), and a 1.2MP front camera, but no rear camera and no video output port.

Google’s Sundar Pichai is holding an event July 24th, where it’s possible he’ll officially unveil the new tablet. But Engadget says a tipster tells them the Nexus 7 will go on sale in Staples retail stores on July 31st.

The new tablet is expected to be built by Asus, the same manufacturing partner that Google chose for the original Nexus 7. Rumor has it the new model will sell for $229 and up.
